Titans Complete Fourth-Quarter Comeback with Goal Line Stand

The Tennessee Titans defense stuffed Bills’ QB Josh Allen on a fourth-down rush with 12 seconds remaining to secure the 34-31 win on Monday night at Nissan Stadium. Tennessee entered the fourth quarter down a score, but Derrick Henry ran for a 13-yard TD on the penultimate drive to secure the comeback. 

Red Sox Belt Four HRs, Beat Astros 12-3

The bats were alive in Boston last night as Alex Cora’s team delivered him the best possible gift for his 46th birthday, beating the Astros 12-3 to go up 2-1 in the best-of-seven series. Boston’s Kyle Schwarber lifted a grand slam to cap off a six-run second, making them the first MLB team in history to hit three grand slams in a postseason series.

NBA Season Tips Off with Primetime Doubleheader

The NBA’s 75th season launches Tuesday night with an epic duo of matchups on TNT. The defending champion Milwaukee Bucks will host the Nets, and the Lakers welcome the Warriors to the Staples Center.

Brogdon, Shamet Among NBA Players to Get Contract Extensions

It was a busy day in the NBA on Monday as several players agreed to contract extensions with their respective teams. Malcolm Brogdon agreed to a two-year, $45 million extension with the Pacers; Landry Shamet agreed to a four-year, $43 million rookie contract extension with the Suns; Kevin Huerter agreed to a four-year, $65 million rookie contract extension with the Hawks; and Grayson Allen agreed to a two-year, $20 million rookie extension with the Bucks.

FIFA to End Exclusivity Deal with EA Sports

FIFA is ending its long-standing exclusivity deal with EA Sports as part of an effort to reassess its approach to esports and the gaming industry, the company announced. Front Office Sports reports FIFA is seeking a deal worth $1 billion every four years.

Giants to Exercise $22M Option on Posey

Veteran catcher Buster Posey is in line for a giant payday. San Francisco indicated Monday it intends on exercising Posey’s $22 million club option for the 2022 season, if he in fact wants to keep playing. Posey, whose contract includes a $3 million buyout, posted stellar numbers this year, helping lead the Giants to a franchise-record 107 wins.

Gonzaga Tops NCAA Basketball Preseason Poll

The Bulldogs sit at the top of the NCAA preseason poll. Gonzaga will welcome two five-star recruits in Chet Holmgren and Hunter Sallis who are set to strengthen the squad that went 31-1 last year.

Gatorade Becomes Overtime Elite’s First Official Brand Partner

Overtime Elite gets set to play its first games later this month, it now has its first major sponsorship deal. Gatorade will have a presence on the sidelines as OTE’s official sports drink, but will also play a role in driving the organization’s athletic performance. In addition to providing products from across the brand’s portfolio, its athletes will have access to leading hydration and nutrition experts from the Gatorade Sports Science Institute.

NWSL Taps Marla Messing as Interim CEO 

The NWSL appointed veteran soccer executive Marla Messing as its interim CEO to run the day-to-day operations of the league. The hiring comes as the league continues to deal with the fallout from accusations of a legacy of abuse inside the Washington Spirit’s clubhouse, as well as deeper efforts inside the league to cover it up.

Sharks’ Kane to Sit 21 Games for COVID Violation

Evander Kane has been suspended 21 regular-season games without pay for violating NHL/NHLPA COVID-19 protocols. Few details were released on the suspension, but the NHL said Kane was suspended for “an established violation of, and lack of compliance with, the NHL/NHLPA COVID-19 Protocol.” The money forfeited by Kane will go to the Players’ Emergency Assistance Fund.

Legacy Classic Announces Startup Pitch Competition with Serena Williams, MaC Venture Capital

The Invesco QQQ Legacy Classic, which will feature four HBCU men’s basketball teams, has announced partnerships with MaC Venture Capital and Serena Williams’ investment company, Serena Ventures, to create a startup pitch competition. Aspiring business founders who are current students or alumni from HBCUs have the chance to win $1 million in structured investments from both firms.
