The Grammys are Headed to Disney in New Deal After 50 Years on CBS
After 50 years at CBS, the Grammy Awards have a new home. Disney announced Wednesday that it has inked a 10-year agreement with The Recording Academy to broadcast the biggest night in music on its numerous platforms. The ceremony will air on ABC, Hulu, and Disney+ from 2027 through 2036. The Grammys first aired on ABC in 1971 and 1972 before moving over to CBS the following year. In the first year of this new partnership, 2027, ABC will air all of The Grammys, The Oscars, and Super Bowl LXI.
Ryan Reynolds, Rob McElhenney Add to Wrexham Ownership, Buy Brewery
Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney are making moves. On Wednesday, the duo announced that it has sold a minority stake in Wrexham AFC to the Allyn Family, owners of Welch Allyn, Inc., a world-renowned medical device company based in upstate New York. The deal was made through Red Dragon Ventures LLC, a new joint venture between McElhenney, Reynolds, and the Allyns, “focused on driving growth and success in and around Wrexham.” The group has made an immediate impact by purchasing Wrexham Lager on Wednesday, the oldest lager brewery still existing in Great Britain. Reynolds and McElhenney announced the acquisition via a video using 1882 technology, the year the company was founded in Wales.
Kith Night Coming to MSG on Nov. 8 for Knicks-Bucks
The third annual Kith Night at Madison Square Garden is scheduled for Friday, Nov. 8, the clothing brand said Wednesday. Fans arriving at MSG to watch the New York Knicks take on the Milwaukee Bucks can expect giveaways, branded concessions, and more. There will also be a pop-up where the Kith for Knicks 2024 capsule will be available to shop. Finally, the brand has teamed up with Chase to put together a meet-and-greet with Knicks alumni, a book signing with the designer of this year’s Kith for Knicks line, Michael Doret, and complimentary Kith treats. In the past, Kith has partnered with NYC musical talents such as Dipset and The Lox to help usher in collaborations with the Knicks.
Estée Lauder Stays In-House, Names Stéphane de La Faverie as New CEO
Estée Lauder on Wednesday confirmed the hiring of Stéphane de La Faverie as its new President and CEO, effective Jan. 1, 2025. In August, the cosmetics giant announced that current CEO Fabrizio Freda would retire after 16 years with the company. De La Faverie has been with Estée Lauder since 2011 and is currently the company’s Executive Group President, overseeing high-end fragrance brands such as Jo Malone London, Frederic Malle, Le Labo, and Kilian Paris.
Snoop Dogg & Dr. Dre Reveal Release Date for Upcoming ‘Missionary’ Album
Snoop Dogg has new music coming by the end of the year. The veteran rapper shared on social media that Missionary, which is being labeled as the sequel to his 1993 debut project Doggystyle, is set for release on Dec. 13. The announcement was celebrated with a 42-second teaser that depicts two Mormon missionaries door-knocking with a link to pre-save the album. Produced entirely by Dr. Dre, this marks the first full-length collab between the legendary duo since Doggystyle.
Angel Reese Narrates Beats by Dre Campaign Featuring Messi, LeBron, & More
Beats by Dre unveiled its latest star-studded campaign narrated by Chicago Sky star Angel Reese on Wednesday. The “Athletes Get It” ad features 12 Beats ambassadors, including cameos from Lionel Messi, LeBron James, Shohei Ohtani, Naomi Osaka, and Sha’Carri Richardson. Another athlete who appeared in the spot is Colorado QB Shedeur Sanders, one of the 15 players in college football who signed with the company as part of its inaugural “Beats Elite” class last season.
Dude Perfect Adds to DFW’s Growing Media Presence with New Facility
Dude Perfect is expanding even more in Texas with a new production facility equipped with an upscale video and content studio in the Dallas-Ft. Worth area. The release states the space will serve as the new production site for its flagship YouTube channel, which boasts 60.5 million subscribers, and to develop other signature content, including Overtime, Dude Perfect’s variety series. The company will also open the venue to select associates and creators filming in the Dallas area. “This new space will allow us to do more of the videos that our audience loves because only the guys at Dude Perfect can pull off, while also helping DFW to become even more of an entertainment hub,” Coby Cotton, Co-Founder of Dude Perfect, said.
UEFA’s $1B Pledge Aims to Grow Women’s Soccer in Europe
In an effort to increase the popularity and awareness of women’s soccer, UEFA pledged €1 billion ($1.08 billion) on Wednesday toward all levels of the sport between 2024 and 2030. In addition to doubling the number of fully professional national leagues to six and increasing the number of pros from 3,000 to 5,000, the plan also includes establishing avenues for women and girls to play, coach, and referee beginning at the grassroots level. “It is our promise to keep investing and collectively lead the game forward, with all European national associations, leagues, clubs, players, fans, and partners part of our journey,” UEFA Director of Women’s Soccer Nadine Kessler said.
