Brian Koppelman on Billions, Rounders, & Switching Industries

Brian Koppelman is the co-creator, showrunner, and executive producer of “Billions“. On this episode of Out of Office, Koppelman shares how he followed his father’s footsteps into the music business, playing pivotal roles in the recording careers of Tracy Chapman and Eddie Murphy, before stepping away from his job as an A&R exec to pursue his own creative dreams. A self described “poker degenerate, Koppelman and his writing partner David Levien immersed themselves in the underground poker clubs that inspired their first 1998 film, Rounders. Koppelman also discusses the early days of “Billions”, including how he convinced Damien Lewis and Paul Giamotti to take their roles, as well as the future of the show.
