Taylor Swift Buys Back Rights to First 6 Albums
Taylor Swift officially owns all of her music after buying back the rights to her first six albums, she announced in a note on her website on Friday. Swift lost the rights in 2019 after her former label sold them to Scooter Braun. She famously went on to re-record four of her albums — Fearless, Red, Speak Now, and 1989 — calling them “Taylor’s Version.” The amount Swift paid to regain the rights was undisclosed.
NBA Helps Brands Generate $2.3B in Sponsor Media Value
With over 195 brands — from State Farm to Nike — making at least $1 million, companies were able to generate a total of $2.3 billion in sponsor media value through the NBA for the 2024-25 regular season, per Relo Metrics. The league’s social media value drove an average of $4.5 million per day, outperforming its U.S. major sports league counterparts. One of the more successful platforms was TikTok, which saw a 91% yearly increase in volume, resulting in a 153% value jump compared to the previous season.
Ariana Grande to Star Alongside Ben Stiller, Robert De Niro in ‘Meet the Parents 4’
Ariana Grande is taking her talents from Wicked to Meet the Parents, having agreed to star alongside Ben Stiller and Robert De Niro in the fourth installment of the Universal franchise. The film is set to release theatrically on Nov. 25, 2026. In total, the first three movies of the Meet the Parents series have made $1.13 billion at the global box office.
Dodgers Team Up with New Era, Born X Raised on New Apparel Collection
The reigning World Series champion Los Angeles Dodgers have teamed up with New Era and streetwear label Born X Raised on a new apparel collection. Born X Raised is an LA-based brand that has been sported by the likes of SZA, YG, Winnie Harlow, and more. The 25-piece capsule includes snapback and fitted hats, t-shirts, hoodies, sweaters, and a satin souvenir stadium jacket. The launch follows the success of the Dodgers’ collaboration with Japanese artist Takashi Murakami.
Lisa to Get Documentary Treatment from Sony
International superstar entertainer Lisa is getting her own documentary from Sony Music Vision. The doc will follow the White Lotus star around for a year while she pursues her career as a solo artist. Sue Kim, who has led production on A24’s The Last of the Sea Women and Netflix’s The Speed Cubers, will direct the piece. The veteran filmmaker told Deadline that she recently wrapped up the doc’s final shoot, during which Lisa reunited with Blackpink.
Pinterest Gets Into Sports with New York Liberty Partnership
Pinterest signed its first-ever sports deal with the New York Liberty, promising to bring fans exclusive content, in-game experiences, and community outreach. The partnership is effective immediately, with the Liberty’s home floor now boasting the Pinterest logo across the baseline of the Barclays Center court. Per Pinterest, searches for “WNBA aesthetic” and “New York Liberty” have skyrocketed on the platform, up 1,295% and 216%, respectively.
Issa Rae to Star In & Produce Upcoming Comedy Thriller
On the heels of her massive Insecure success that won her an Emmy Award, Issa Rae is now set to star in and produce an upcoming comedy thriller — Good People, Bad Things — with independent studio MRC. Rae also recently appeared in an episode of the most recent season of Black Mirror. The movie will be written and directed by Scottish filmmaker Ninian Doff.
Inflation Slows to 2.1% Annual Rate in April
Inflation moved less than expected in April, putting the annual rate at 2.1%, down from 2.3% in March and the lowest since September 2024. Consumer spending also slowed down significantly last month, with the savings rate jumping up to 4.9%, the highest in almost a year.
New ‘Karate Kid’ Movie Opens to $2.3M in Previews
The newest installment of the Karate Kid franchise is officially set to hit theaters this weekend, but has already generated $2.3 million in previews thus far. Per Variety, projections have Karate Kid: Legends raking in anywhere from $25 million to $30 million throughout its opening weekend. That cast includes Ralph Macchio and Jackie Chan returning to reprise their respective roles as Daniel LaRusso and Mr. Han, while Ben Wang stars as the new Karate Kid.
Adidas, Rhude Team Up with Como 1907 for Limited-Edition Kit
Adidas and luxury brand Rhude have partnered with Italian soccer club Como 1907 on a limited-edition kit celebrating the team’s return to Serie A after 21 years. The co-branded black jersey with gold detail was designed by Rhude founder and Como 1907 Chief Brand Officer Rhuigi Villaseñor. Following the team’s debut of the kit in the final match of the season, it is now available on Como’s website for €275.
