Alex Morgan teased she’d return to soccer in some capacity after retiring last year, and now we officially know her next steps: The decorated striker has joined the San Diego Wave FC ownership group. In a letter to fans, Morgan said she “believed in Wave FC before a single match was played, and I still believe this Club has the power to change the future of women’s sports.” The two-time World Cup champion was among the first players signed to Wave FC in 2021. Morgan also scored the Wave’s first-ever goal and led the team to consecutive playoff appearances.

Organizers for the American Music Awards shared Tuesday that Janet Jackson will receive the ICON Award during the ceremony later this month, hailing the five-time Grammy winner as “one of the most influential entertainers of the modern era.” An 11-time American Music Award winner, Jackson is scheduled to perform during the festivities in Las Vegas on May 26. This marks her first live performance on television since 2018.

In what many feel is an overdue move, Major League Baseball Commissioner Rob Manfred removed Pete Rose, “Shoeless” Joe Jackson, and other deceased players from the permanently ineligible list on Tuesday. Rose, MLB’s all-time career hits leader, Jackson, and more will now be eligible to be elected into the Baseball Hall of Fame. “Obviously, a person no longer with us cannot represent a threat to the integrity of the game,” Manfred said.

On reported a record 726.6 million Swiss francs ($864.4 million) in net sales in its first-quarter earnings report Tuesday, a 43% year-over-year increase. By category, sneaker profits rose 40.5%, apparel jumped 93.1%, and accessories skyrocketed the most by 99.2%. On, which continues to capitalize on its partnership with Zendaya and recent collaboration with Loewe, saw its stock rise nearly 12% by market close on Tuesday.

CAA Sports has reached an agreement to acquire global sports management consulting firm Portas Consulting. Although financial info wasn’t revealed, Portas Executive Chairman and founder David Portas and Managing Partner Donal McElwee, in addition to a team of 160 consultants and staffers, will move over to the rebranded CAA Portas.

On top of leading to impressive streaming numbers, the Cowboy Carter Tour is making revenue history on the road. Beyoncé’s five-show stint at SoFi Stadium to open the global trek grossed $55.7 million and sold 217,000 tickets, making it the biggest single-venue event from a female artist ever to be reported, per Billboard Boxscore. Following the completion of the week-long run, Bey has now played more shows at SoFi than any other artist in the venue’s history (8).

A platform that celebrates music, sports, style, food, and pop culture stories through the perspective of Brooklyn’s reputation of relentless hustle, diverse community, and self-expression, this new project complements Brooklyn Magazine, a previous BSE acquisition that highlights hyperlocal content within Brooklyn.

Data released Tuesday by the Labor Department shows the consumer price index rose 0.2% last month and is up 2.3% over the past year, its lowest since April 2021. Consumers saw some relief at the grocery store, where prices fell 0.4% from March, consequently bringing down overall food prices by 0.1%. The average price for a dozen Grade A eggs decreased 12.7% to $5.12 from $6.23 in April, marking the first month-to-month decline in egg prices since October 2024.

In celebration of the 40th anniversary of the U.S. Women’s National Team, Nike unveiled new kits as part of a collection featuring training kits, pre-match tops, anthem jackets, and vintage-inspired lifestyle pieces. Arriving in two new street style-inspired designs — the Brilliant Kit and the Heartbeat Kit, the latter of which boasts a pinstripe design and will be shared by the U.S. men’s team — tthe USWNT jerseys, as well as those for other federations like Brazil, Nigeria, and France, will be available on May 22.

ESPN‘s all-access streaming service, aptly called ESPN, will launch this fall under various price points. The platform, which promises content from all of ESPN’s cable networks and its digital streaming service ESPN+, will cost $29.99 per month for unlimited access. ESPN’s parent company, Disney, will also offer subscribers a special option at launch to bundle Disney+, Hulu, and the new ESPN for $29.99 monthly for the first 12 months. ESPN will offer a “select” tier of the streamer for $11.99 a month.

More Hollywood talent is coming to Apple TV+, with Jude Law and Andrew Garfield booked to portray legendary magicians Siegfried & Roy in the new limited series Wild Things. Based on the Apple Original Podcast, Wild Things: Siegfried & Roy, Law will star as Siegfried and Garfield will portray Roy, with production set to begin this fall.
