A Fast & Furious TV series is officially in development at Peacock, expanding the blockbuster film franchise into television with Vin Diesel attached as executive producer. Announced during NBCUniversal’s upfront presentation, Diesel claimed as many as four series are in the works across the Fast & Furious universe. However, reports indicate only one project is currently active, with additional ideas still in early stages of development at Universal.

The NFL revealed its first major 2026 schedule announcement Monday, with the Dallas Cowboys and New York Giants set to open on Sunday Night Football on Sept. 13 at MetLife Stadium. The matchup puts one of the league’s biggest TV draws against a revamped Giants team led by new head coach John Harbaugh. The full NFL schedule will be released on Thursday and is expected to include bigger streaming partnerships, a possible Thanksgiving Eve game, and a Wednesday night season opener featuring the defending champion Seahawks.

Comedian turned entrepreneur Byron Allen is purchasing a 52% stake in Buzzfeed for $120 million, the digital media company announced Tuesday, noting that the deal is expected to close by the end of the month. Allen will succeed founder Jonah Peretti as the digital media company’s next CEO, and Peretti will take on a newly created role as the president of Buzzfeed AI. The move comes weeks after Allen leased a two-hour comedy block on CBS, and his long-running show Comics Unleashed will effectively replace Late Night With Stephen Colbert after its final episode airs May 21.

With the 79th Cannes Film Festival set to kick off Tuesday on the French Riviera, organizers are standing firm on one controversial tradition: no selfies on the red carpet. Even with Meta joining as a sponsor and bringing influencers to Cannes, festival director Thierry Frémaux says the no-selfie policy will remain in place. The festival, running May 12–23, will welcome top filmmakers, stars, and premieres from around the world, with films like Sheep in the Box and Fjord competing for the Palme d’Or.

The New York Times Company added 310,000 digital-only subscribers in the first quarter, pushing its total subscriber base to 13.1 million. The growth comes as readers increasingly turn to trusted news sources amid political and economic uncertainty. The company also benefited from strong digital advertising growth, higher subscription prices, and expanded video offerings. The Times is now closing in on its goal of reaching 15 million subscribers by the end of 2027.

Wordle is heading to television, with NBC ordering a prime-time game show based on the viral word puzzle and set to premiere in 2027. Hosted by Savannah Guthrie, the show will feature teams of three competing for cash prizes. Developed in partnership with NBCUniversal, The New York Times Company, and Jimmy Fallon’s production team, the format aims to capture the social, shareable appeal that turned Wordle into a global phenomenon.

Tyshawn Jones stars in Louis Vuitton’s pre-fall menswear campaign, shot in New York’s Central Park and styled from the collection designed by Pharrell Williams. The imagery blends skate culture and luxury fashion, with Jones posing across urban landscapes in tailored and street-inspired looks. A two-time Skater of the Year winner, Jones has previously gone viral for stunt videos featuring Louis Vuitton gear, reinforcing the brand’s ongoing ties to skateboarding culture.

Dua Lipa has filed a $15 million lawsuit against Samsung, alleging the company used her likeness without permission to promote its TVs. The complaint claims her image appeared on product packaging as part of a marketing campaign, creating the false impression of endorsement. Lipa argues she never approved the use and would not have consented, accusing Samsung of exploiting her “premium brand” image for commercial gain.

KITH has tapped Jonah Hill to front its Summer 2026 campaign, titled Life Lessons with Jonah Hill. The short film shows Hill modeling new Kith pieces while delivering satirical business advice, including a lemonade stand storyline that turns into a tongue-in-cheek entrepreneurial journey. The collaboration continues Hill’s long-running relationship with streetwear culture and his history of fashion partnerships across major brands and sneaker projects.

Disney has become the first major studio to cross $2 billion at the global box office year-to-date, powered by The Devil Wears Prada 2, which is driving the milestone with a $433 million global run and a $118.8M million second weekend worldwide. The sequel has already surpassed the original film’s lifetime total in several markets. Elsewhere, Mortal Kombat II opened to a softer-than-expected $63 million global debut, with momentum still building across international territories.

Cerebras Systems has raised its IPO pricing range to $150–$160 per share, boosting its expected valuation to as much as $48.8 billion and targeting up to $4.8 billion in proceeds. The AI hardware firm, which competes with Nvidia in accelerating large AI models, has gained traction through cloud partnerships and OpenAI-related demand. Nasdaq expects the IPO to take place on May 14, as investor demand for AI infrastructure listings remains strong.
