Just a few months shy of what would have been her 21st WNBA season, Diana Taurasi exclusively announced her retirement in an interview with Time Magazine. The three-time WNBA champion was drafted by the Phoenix Mercury in 2004 and played her entire career for the franchise. She leaves the game as the W’s top-scoring player in history and also holds the record for three-pointers. Taurasi also boasts six Euroleague titles, six Olympic golds, and three NCAA titles.
Taylor Swift Becomes First Female Artist to Reach 100B Spotify Streams
Taylor Swift marks another first in the music industry, this time becoming the first female artist to crack 100 billion streams on Spotify. Her latest album, The Tortured Poets Department, fueled 7 billion-plus streams since its April 2024 release. Swift’s Lover has garnered the most streams out of her projects with over 12 billion.

TOGETHXR is celebrating a major milestone this week, officially hitting $6 million in revenue in 2024 from the sale of its signature product line of shirts, hoodies, and tote bags bearing the Everyone Watches Women’s Sports tagline. The company sold 20,000 units during a three-day stretch at the end of the 2024 NCAA women’s basketball tournament. Ayo Edebiri Tapped for Live-Action Barney Movie with Mattel, A24
A live-action movie on childhood icon Barney is coming, and award-winning actress Ayo Edebiri is not only writing the screenplay, but The Bear lead is also in talks to star. A24, Mattel, and Daniel Kaluuya’s 59% Productions are producing the film. Despite being a favorite among kids, Mattel executive Kevin McKeon emphasized that the live-action Barney is for an adult crowd and “surrealistic.”

Retail and events hotspot LEVELS is opening a brick-and-mortar in San Francisco on Friday. Located steps from the Chase Center, the spot will include collections from up-and-coming brands, current industry staples, and a permanent retail boutique. LEVELS was founded by a unique mix of industry veterans that includes 2K’s Ronnie Singh, Mercury Group’s Sam Asfahani, Nutrabolt’s Craig Lyon, and Guest List’s Ryan Gizinski.

Shaboozey’s Grammy-nominated song “A Bar Song (Tipsy)” is officially the longest-running song to be ranked No. 1 on the Billboard Hot Country Songs list at 35 weeks. The jingle beats Sam Hunt’s “Body Like a Back Road,” which led for 34 weeks at No. 1 in 2017.

After joining the company with Star Wars creator George Lucas in 2012, Kennedy eventually took over the popular franchise after Disney purchased Lucasfilm for $4 billion. Under her leadership, Disney relaunched Star Wars with annual films from 2015-2019, beginning with The Force Awakens, which brought in $2 billion.

It’s been a few weeks since the most surprising trade of the NBA season went down, but we’ll finally get to see new Los Angeles Lakers star Luka Dončić play against his former team in the Dallas Mavericks on Tuesday night in Los Angeles. Ahead of it, Jordan Brand dropped a new ad that appears to show Dončić changing the Texas “77” license plate to a California one while George Strait’s “All My Ex’s Live in Texas” plays in the background.
