Kevin Hart has been appointed as the first-ever on-court host of the reimagined 2025 NBA All-Star Game on Sunday. Beyond the game, the Bay is bringing out appearances from some top talent, including DJ Cassidy, E-40, Saweetie, Gelo, and H.E.R. 

Ahead of its MLS debut next weekend, Issa Rae has joined the San Diego FC ownership group. Rae joins the club partner ranks alongside World Cup champion Juan Mata and founding partner and San Diego Padres’ star Manny Machado among the team’s investors. AI-powered sports media company ScorePlay completed a $13 million Series A funding round joined by Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo, Alexis Ohanian’s Seven Seven Six VC firm, former Formula 1 champion Nico Rosberg, and retired USWNT striker Alex Morgan. Per Sportico, ScorePlay’s technology that helps teams organize their highlights and clips using artificial intelligence is used by more than 200 athletic organizations globally.

Comedian Dave Chappelle will be recognized with the President’s Award at the 56th NAACP Image Awards on Saturday, Feb. 22. Past recipients of the award, which honors recipients for their special achievements and distinguished public service, include Usher, LeBron James, Spike Lee, Muhammad Ali, and Jesse Jackson.

Former Bucks co-owner Marc Lasry is leading a bid to bring the WNBA to Austin, with support from Kevin Durant and former University of Texas star and Houston Comets player Fran Harris. Other cities vying for a franchise include Charlotte, Philadelphia, and Nashville.

The Academy announced a new lineup of presenters for the 97th Oscars, set to take place next month. Halle Berry, Penélope Cruz, Elle Fanning, Whoopi Goldberg, Scarlett Johansson, John Lithgow, Amy Poehler, June Squibb, and Bowen Yang will each present awards at the March 2 ceremony. They join last year’s Oscar winners in the acting category Emma Stone, Cillian Murphy, Da’Vine Joy Randolph, and Robert Downey Jr., who were previously announced.

Lyft shared on Monday that it’s working with Intel’s Mobileye technology to bring fully autonomous robotaxis to Dallas “as soon as 2026,” with more cities to follow. The company didn’t confirm which carmaker it is partnering with for the launch or how many vehicles will debut in Dallas but added that Japanese group Marubeni will own the vehicles that function with Mobileye technology.

Beats unveiled Tuesday the Powerbeats Pro 2, which they call “the most impressive product in Beats’ history.” The brand called on ambassadors LeBron James, Lionel Messi, and Shohei Ohtani to help with its launch. It comes in four colors and retails for $249.99.

Other outlets and individuals recognized include LSU women’s basketball star and rapper Flau’jae, Travis and Jason Kelce, and Rich Paul, founder and CEO of Klutch Sports Group. The list comes on the heels of Billboard placing Travis Scott on its Sports Issue cover on Monday.

A new campaign from Adidas sees Anthony Edwards, Aliyah Boston, Trinity Rodman, and others celebrate coaches, parents, supporters, and teammates that help athletes believe Adidas’ classic saying, “You Got This.” In addition to helping players release the pressure of perfection, Three Stripes has created a resource dubbed “Sideline Essentials,” outlining how spectators can help contribute to a more supportive environment.

In what is the largest partnership in franchise history, the Los Angeles Sparks announced a collaboration with Albert, making the financial services platform its official jersey partner. The multi-year, eight-figure deal also means there will be a heavy Albert presence on-court and across in-arena branding. In addition, to give back to the people of LA, financial literacy camps and a court refurbishment program will be launched.
